M.Türker Emeklier
He was born in January 20th 1982. He attended high school in Çankaya Atatürk High School and Çankaya High School in Ankara. After studying in Bilkent University, Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Department of Classical Guitar with a scholarship for 3 years; he got interested in architecture. Deciding to study in this area, he continued his education in ITU Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture. After 2 semesters he was accepted in the double major program and started a second major in architecture. In addition to his academic studies, he started studying on the art of photography. Foundations of his studies in photography, was established in Ankara Photographers Association (AFSAD). His first personal exhibition, “Photos From the Pavement” was displayed at ITU Ayazağa Campus Culture and Arts Association in December 2005. The exhibition had been displayed again in March 2006 at the Taşkışla Building, ITU. With this series of photography, he tried to explain the point of view of the city, which he believes is a living entity, to human beings at an architectural scale. His second exhibition on the theme of tango dancing, took place on November 8-12th 2006 within the International Tango Ritual Festival at the Darphane-i Amire Building. He tried to project the dynamic character of dance with the perspective of the existence of the couples being detached from the moment. Besides his exhibitions, he worked as a freelance photographer for Radio METU and Organizer in activities and concerts. He worked with Duygu Arseven in 2007 as a freelance photographer as well as a set designer. He completed his apprenticeship studies at Işık Architecture Office and Net Architecture Office in Istanbul. In addition, he appeared in the winning project team for National Adana Urban Urban Design Competition and National Kucukcekmece Urban Design Competition with 1+1 Architecture Office. He graduated his first major in Interior Architecture in 2009 with a degree of second place in the department. He is now a senior in ITU Department of Architecture.
